The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession or Penance, is a sacrament of healing. Like all sacraments, it is an encounter with Jesus Christ. Reconciliation is necessary for our salvation, growth, healing, and strength as Christians and disciples of the Lord.
FIRST RECONCILIATION The first experience of the Sacrament of Penance may be celebrated during second grade, as part of a child's preparation before being Confirmed and receiving First Eucharist typically in third grade. Children from Catholic and public schools, as well as those who are homeschooled, are prepared for the celebration of the sacrament here at the parish. Sacred Heart offers a variety of ways to assist the family in helping their child prepare for First Reconciliation. |
