MATRIMONY
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. “

Jesus answered, "Have you not read that the one who made them at the beginning “made them male and female," and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?' So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

Congratulations on the decision to celebrate a commitment of life to each other in the Sacrament of Marriage. This is a profound decision. Weddings are a special time of joy and promise not only for you, but for your families, the parish community, and the Holy Church. The Faith tells us that as the bride and groom administer the sacrament to each other before the official witness of the Church, the great marriage feast of our Lord in the New Jerusalem and our own eternal lives are foreshadowed.

In view of its religious significance, this sacrament must be entered into with prayerful planning. Sacred Heart wishes to provide you with the direction necessary to help you not only delight in a beautiful wedding day, but a joyful and fulfilling lifelong sacramental union. Therefore, we ask that you contact the parish office at (603) 448-1262 at least six months prior to your wedding.

From Fr. Mike's video: "Unfortunately, our world often tells us that marriage doesn’t need to be open to life. People will even sometimes say it’s selfish and reckless to bring children into a world that is so broken. But the truth of the matter is that a marriage can’t be sacramental without an openness to life, and that’s a big deal."
