COME WALK WITH ME

This is an eight week seminar for bereaved persons. All of the families who have had funerals at Sacred Heart are contacted and invited to attend. We can publicize this seminar and invite anyone who is interested to attend. In each of the eight sessions a different aspect of the grieving process is examined and participants are invited to share their experiences.  The program is supposed to be a self healing experience.  Facilitators for this program are member of the Lazarus Ministry.

The sessions help people know what to expect and not to expect during the grieving process. It gives them the opportunity to share with other grieving people who can understand and support them. When we lose a loved one by death, we are wounded. Just as a wound does, we need to heal from within, to express our thoughts and feelings, even when they seem crazy. We need to recognize that in grieving “crazy is normal” for awhile. Knowing this will not lessen ones grief, but it may help the healing to begin. This support group will be a safe haven where all who wish can talk, cry, share their anger, guilt, and fears with others who understand and care. It is intended to sooth and comfort like a healing salve, and provides the space for the wound to find new health. The privacy of each participant will be respected and protected; nothing shared is to leave our meetings. The group, led by a trained interfaith chaplain and an experienced educator, follows a carefully prepared and nationally recognized program of grief support. Supportive session handouts will be distributed and refreshments served. No payment is required.  Donations are gratefully accepted if possible.
